Yeti AS-R build is complete

Today I finished up my Yeti AS-R build. Over the next few days I hope to get a few rides in so I can get the front fork and rear shock setup, as well as get my saddle position adjusted. I'm very pleased with how it turned out. The weight is 24.78 lbs, which is only 1 lb more than my Yeti ARC hardtail. Here's the parts list...

Weight of my 2009 Yeti AS-R complete

I'm pleasantly surprised that my AS-R weighed in at 24.78 lbs, which is only 1 lb heavier than my Yeti ARC hardtail. I didn't use very many crazy expensive/light parts on this build, so I'm content with a sub 25 full suspension XC race bike. Getting it under 24 lbs is definitely do-able, but that'll have to wait until next race season.

Fox F100 RLC fork

When considering a front fork for my Yeti AS-R, there was no question what to get.... a Fox F100 RLC. This seems to be the fork-of-choice for Yeti racers/riders, and I also happen to have one on my Yeti ARC hardtail.

Shimano XT Crankset and SRAM X.0 Drivetrain

The drivetrain for my Yeti ASR will be a mix of Shimano XT and SRAM X.0 components. On a cross country race bike I'm a big fan of twist shifters, so I went with SRAM X.0's just like I have on my Yeti ARC.

The drivetrain for my ASR will look like this...

Avid Juicy Ultimate brakes

For brakes on my AS-R, I decided to pull the Avid Juicy Ultimates off my Yeti ARC and use them on the AS-R. These brakes are incredible and on a high end cross country race bike I don't think I'd consider many other disc brake systems. My experiences with them on my Yeti ARC were really good... even on really long dowhills I didn't get any fade, and stopping power was near perfection. I'm contemplating another set for my ARC when I have the money.

Wheelset / tires for my Yeti AS-R

I'll be using the following wheelset and tires for my AS-R:

Wheelset: Easton XC One
Skewers: Easton XC One (included with wheelset)
Front Tire: Kenda Nevegal 26 x 2.1 Folding Bead
Rear Tire: Kenda Nevegal 26 x 1.95 Folding Bead
Tubes: Continental Lightweight Presta

The complete weight for the front wheel (wheel,tire,tube,skewer) is 1620 grams, and for the rear it is 1700 grams. This ended up being only slightly lighter overall than the Mavic XC717/Hope XC wheelset I have on my Yeti ARC, only because the ARC has much lighter tires. I'm a big fan of the Nevegals though so I will put up with a little extra weight.

Weight of Easton XC One wheelset

My Easton XC One wheels arrived today. They weigh in at 710 grams for the front and 890 grams for the rear (without skewers). These should work well... they are almost a pound lighter than the Mavic XC717/Hope XC wheelset I have on my Yeti ARC.
